Plex is a media streaming service that allows users to organize and stream their personal media collections, such as movies, TV shows,and music to various devices. It also offers an ad-supported streaming service with access to free movies and TV shows.

This whole project started as a Macmini and a Drobo (if anyone remembrers those). My dad was moving and didn't want to haul his literally room sized collection of movies and TV shows to his new house. So I got myself a VHS player and a digitizer from elgato, several DVD players and a Blu-ray player. Over the course of the next ~2 years across evenings and weekends I digitized it all. I learned a TON about video codecs, automation, re-encoding and file organization. The end result is this PLEX server. It now runs on much better hardware as you can see in the hardware section of this wiki.
You will see the word PLEX a lot in this wiki. Unfortunatly it refers to many things.
Throughout this documentation I will do my best to disambiguate all this by adhering to this list of modified terms.

Additionally, through any PLEX App, use your PLEX Account to sign-in and the PLEX Server will automatically appear in your list of sources.
PLEX auth is handled by PLEX corporate. Your 'PLEX Account' is through https://plex.tv and not through me. You can use your plex account to connect to many PLEX instances or host your own instance.
I cannot reset your PLEX password. You can reset your password yourself by following the information in this article
To join the PLEX server you will first need a Plex account.

Sometimes stuff happens. Movies can be in the wrong language, or its a cam-rip and someones head is in the shot. If you notice these or other issues please submit a ticket at https://overseerr.murray-cloud.com. The admin team will get to it and rectify the issue as soon as possible.
PLEX does have some rudimentary issue tracker in the PLEX interface. Please DON'T use this. Overseerr is much better.
I have a PLEX NEWSLETTER that you will be automatically signed up to once you join. It sends out notices on newly added Movies, TV shows and Music to the server. If you hate it I can remove you from the list, or you can filter it to trash.
